Job Description
About the role
We’re on the lookout for a Design Engineer to join our Auckland office! Your expertise in design, selections, and documentation will help us deliver HVAC solutions that are efficient, effective, and tailored to specific needs. This role offers flexible working hours within 6:30am to 5:30pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development: Lead and support new product development projects, ensuring designs meet performance, compliance, and manufacturing requirements.
Technical Documentation: Prepare accurate design data, detailed specifications, high-quality CAD models and drawings to support sales, engineering, and production teams.
Project Coordination: Plan and manage engineering tasks, monitor progress, and communicate risks and updates clearly across teams.
Engineering Leadership: Facilitate design reviews, lead technical discussions, and ensure team members understand their roles and project goals.
Continuous Improvement: Apply engineering tools like DFMEA, DVP, and DFM to improve product quality and efficiency.
Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Compliance, Product Management, Procurement and Manufacturing to ensure seamless integration and delivery of projects.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure all designs and processes meet relevant industry standards and company policies.
Desired Skills and Experience
What you will bring to the role
We’re looking for a skilled and driven Design Engineer who brings a strong technical foundation, leadership capability, and a proactive mindset. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Design from an accredited institution.
5+ years’ experience in a technical-commercial HVAC or mechanical process role (industry or consultancy).
Strong grasp of engineering principles and analytical thinking.
Proficiency in:
DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
DVP (Design Verification Plans)
DFM (Design for Manufacture)
Ability to assess cost-value trade-offs and risk through data analysis.
Familiarity with production systems, BOM systems, and MRP.
Preferably, experience with Inventor, Vault, HVAC designs, or sheet-metal-related industries.
Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
Confidence in leading meetings and technical discussions.
Proactive in driving tasks forward and engaging stakeholders.
Strong sense of ownership, reliability, and consistency in delivery.
